When it comes to processors, is there much
difference in quality between AMD & Intel?

Also, what should I look for in a
motherboard?

ASUS® mATX VALUE MAINBOARD: Intel Core™ 2
Duo/Quad Core

^Is that a good one?

Thank you, I did that and I've decided to go
with the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Dual Core
Processor. Pretty good reviews for it.

The quad core processors are a bit expensive
and one of the reviews said there was no need
for a quad with domestic usage.

What's the most important factor when it
comes to getting a PC to do many things at
once?

If I run an anti virus scan I still want to
be able to have my media player open so I can
listen to music as well as operate my web
browser.

Will a dual processor & 8GB CORSAIR DOMINATOR
1066MHz RAM be enough to ensure my next PC
can multi task without slowing down much?

with windows vista you seem to need much
better processing power to make your pc run
anywhere near decent my dual core hp laptop
running at 1.46ghz with 2mb ram takes forever
to boot up and cant handle a fairly simple pc
game ( command and conquer red alert 3). so i
would go for more than u think u need or dump
vista and use XP. my 5 year old dell single
chip out performs the hp in every area
running XP.
