martyn_ Date: 2008-07-19 Time: 17:15:41	We've seen a spate of Muslim ignorance on here. Already I've debunked two of their claims. See my threads. Now the Koran claims algebra and algebraic formulae. Secret and sacred mathematics divulged by the moon god himself. But what if all that science and numbers were known by the ancients? Consider the following. The physician Galen in AD129 (who did pioneer work on biology and embryos) and the "father of numbers" Pythagoras (geometry that formed the basis of Islamic patterns) are just two of the Greeks that were translated into Arabic centuries before the prophet Mohammed. These scientific Greeks were doing their research before Christianity let alone before Islam, and their work along with many lesser known Greeks were distributed along trade routes. Once Mohammed had established Islam and died, his followers destroyed anything that didn’t seem to jibe with it. They still don’t like books very much today and a study I read said only 330 books were translated from the West into Arabic in 2001. Anyway the books that did survive and were rediscovered by European scholars were the innocuous looking ones that used scientific formulae or mathematics. The ancient mathematician Ptolemy had algebra in his book ‘the Almagest’, which was translated into Arabic, as were works of other great Greek mathematicians like Euclid who worked hundreds of years before Islam was invented.

jollysghost Date: 2008-07-20 Time: 18:58:56	Reiver thats very true in life you should look at all aspects of it.and not say 100% your correct on everything. Telling someone to get a life when there questioning something is a bit stupid. I try myself to take everything on board regarding religion and atheism asweell as my own understanding. I can say for certain i dont know everything , so therefore i dont pretend to do so.
