I don't believe it. I've never heard of
anyone been killed, let alone stabbed with a
plastic knife. Maybe someone was stabbed in
the eye, but dying from a plastic knife stab
wound. I've never heard of it. |

If there wasn't any knife crime there would
still be gun crime or some other mainstream
crime would certainly take it's place.
You'd literally have to make rubber knives -
which are useless and still harmful if
swallowed.
Plus, putting direct pressure to the throat
can still result in unconsciousness, as it
blocks the windpipe.
There's no answer really. |

It is possible to kill someone with a plastic
knife. Google 'killed with plastic knife' and
see for yourself.
I know that this was meant very much
'tongue-in-cheek', as I can't imagine all
households giving up their kitchen knives in
favour of plastic spoons or chopsticks, both
of which can still be deadly if you know what
you're doing.
In some respects, the knife culture is akin
to the nuclear weapons debate. "If you've got
one, I'd be safer if I had one too."
I don't know what the solution is, or if
there is one at all. Perhaps the only answer
is to change human attitudes and behaviour.

I'm with Andrew - legalize dope.
And don't just legalize it; make it
compulsory that no 12-30 year olds are
allowed out at night unless they are off
their faces and there would be no more
stabbings.
And no political leader should be allowed to
make any decision unless he/she is stoned; no
more wars! |

According to a national survey, there were
7,409 stabbings in London in 2007/8 and
14,742 elsewhere.
Don't pick on Londoners - we're not all
rapists, murderers and knife fiends.

Well, that's still around 35% of knife crime
in London alone - considering most people
don't live in London, it's way out of
proportion. How many of the fatal stabbings
were in London? You can't deny it has a
bigger problem - and therefore questions need
to be asked - why? |
