Was reading the paper, and read this thing
about 2 white christian children that were
going to a scholl with an asian majority

the 2 christian kids refused to get on there
knees and pray to allah!!

is this fair,do other schools make the muslim
pupils recite the lord prayer?

i personally think it is bang out of order,to
punish someone for not taking part in someone
elses religion

but how confusing will it be for kids,as far
as religion goes they wont have a clue what
they belive in.

and im sure if muslim pupils didnt want to
take part in the lorsd prayer, they wouldnt be
punished for it

nobody and that includes skool kids should
have religion pushed onto them anyway, let
alone some elses beliefs

i mean i dont have a problem with anybody
elses religion, wether i belive in it or not

but i dnt think anyone should HAVE to take
part in what someone elses beliefs are.

and yes jack if it was the other way round,it
would be dragged through the media for weeks
or months

The problems with parts of certain religions
such as islam,
Its not just the people who dont follow the
religion who are made to do as another does
its the people who already follow the belief
there also not allowed to have an opinion or
a differance on certain subjects of the
teachings there being taught.

i think the pupils were aged between 12 and
14,read it in the express lol (my dads
paper)

there was alot of people at my school that
refused to do religious education,i didnt
have a problem with participating in the
lesson.but some did

and all they had to do to get out the class
was have there parents write a letter
explaining they want excusing from the
subject

so giving someone detention for refusing to
pray to allah is bang out ogf
order, especially when a few years ago muslims
went mad because they werent allowed to wear
some kind of knife they have!! thats part of
there traditional clothing

its mad

lucy i agree just we all know that islam
is more than anything even being taught
school lessons, theres islam anda way of
life then theres something else.
You have seen with keepopen he cant see
outside the boundries of his religion.
Thats simply because of the opression of the
people surrounding him.
Hes a yes man, not oh wait can i sit back and
have a thought of my own.

keepo is compassionate about his religion, but
i agree does go ott sometimes with trying to
make people believe him,i havnt seen any of
his threads for ages though

but i dont think its going to be too long
till sharia law is introduced fully into all
mainstream skools

i wonder what impact that would have

Two schoolboys were given detention after
refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah'
during a religious education lesson.
Parents were outraged that the two boys from
year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished
for not wanting to take part in the practical
demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.
They said forcing their children to take part
in the exercise at Alsager High School, near
Stoke-on-Trent - which included wearing
Muslim headgear - was a breach of their human
rights.

Alsager School, near Stoke, has received
furious complaints from parents after two
Year 7 boys were punished for refusing to
kneel to Allah during a religious studies
class

One parent, Sharon Luinen, said: "This isn't
right, it's taking things too far.
"I understand that they have to learn about
other religions. I can live with that but it
is taking it a step too far to be punished
because they wouldn't join in Muslim prayer.
"Making them pray to Allah, who isn't who
they worship, is wrong and what got me is
that they were told they were being
disrespectful.
"I don't want this to look as if I have a
problem with the school because I am
generally very happy with it."
Another parent Karen Williams said: "I am
absolutely furious my daughter was made to
take part in it and I don't find it
acceptable.
"I haven't got a problem with them teaching
my child other religions and a small amount
of information doesn't do any harm.
"But not only did they have to pray, the
teacher had gone into the class and made them
watch a short film and then said 'we are now
going out to pray to Allah'.
"Then two boys got detention and all the
other children missed their refreshment break
because of the teacher.
"Not only was it forced upon them, my
daughter was told off for not doing it
right.
"They'd never done it before and they were
supposed to do it in another language."
"My child has been forced to pray to Allah in
a school lesson." The grandfather of one of
the pupils in the class said: "It's
absolutely disgusting, there's no other way
of putting it.
"My daughter and a lot of other mothers are
furious about their children being made to
kneel on the floor and pray to Islam. If they
didn't do it they were given detention.
"I am not racist, I've been friendly with an
Indian for 30 years. I've also been to a
Muslim wedding where it was explained to me
that alcohol would not be served and I
respected that.
"But if Muslims were asked to go to church on
Sunday and take Holy Communion there would be
war."

Parents said that their children were made to
bend down on their knees on prayer mats which
the RE teacher had got out of her cupboard
and they were also told to wear Islamic
headgear during the lesson on Tuesday
afternoon.
Deputy headmaster Keith Plant said: "It's
difficult to know at the moment whether this
was part of the curriculum or not. I am not
an RE teacher, I am an English teacher.
"At the moment it is our enterprise week and
many of our members of staff are away.
"The particular member of staff you need to
speak to isn't around. I think that it is a
shame that so many parents have got in touch
with the Press before coming to me.
"I have spoken to the teacher and she has
articulately given me her version of events,
but that is all I can give you at the
moment."
A statement from Cheshire County Council on
behalf of the school read: "The headteacher
David Black contacted this authority
immediately complaints were received.

"Enquiries are being made into the
circumstances as a matter of urgency and all
parents will be informed accordingly.
"Educating children in the beliefs of
different faith is part of the diversity
curriculum on the basis that knowledge is
essential to understanding.
"We accept that such teaching is to be
conducted with some sense of sensitivity."

Should not all kids be given a clear
understanding of how vital it is to embrace
all faiths and respect all creeds?

enter a mosque (an act of worship that
implies holy gound), kneel down, pray to
allah, etc. I fink a lot is being taught to
kids impressionalble young minds to condition
them to the future..

religion is propaganda to a degree

it should be an open subject at skool from
the beggining where as its mandatory unless
parents write in they do it in the earlier
years of high skool

it should be a subject someone chooses to
take

Be a 'good' person, believe in 'a' God it
matters not which one so long as youre a good
brother..this is what Masonary teaches.

The teaching of the Lodge is being gradually
introduced into the mainstraim.. It will
increasingly control present world religions
and thus be itself the new world religion of
the future.

this country is sinking fast.a lot of Muslims
here are anti western..some are British and
proud to be and..had a Muslim in my battle
group in Afghanistan..most the hatred was
aimed at him.way i see it is we need to mix
the children and respect there religious
beliefs of both. Also didnt they ban a book
in a school as it offended their religion?

No. Then religion becomes immune to
criticism. That is very bad for our secular
society.

religion is a fable to me..but i don't
disrespect there point of views.ive spent
seven months in Afghanistan and three in
Iraq..so i learnt the morals of the Muslim
world.and seeing things ive seen..praying to
god any god is just fabricated nonsense.only
one thing any person should believe is there
words of there mother.

had it been my children then am affraid i'd
be taking them to task on that one. thats
exactly when human rights are being abused.
in my secondery school in glasgow no one was
forced to pray to any god let alone allah.
the choice was ours. thats a disgrace and the
teacher/s involved should be ashamed of
themselves. if i forced a child of islam to
prey to prey to a christian god they'd (
rightly so ) call me a racist.

i am not sure who is supposedly an
islamaphope,since it's under my comment,let
me clear something up( just incase ). i have
no religion whatsoever!! therefor,it would
not matter to me what religioin tried to
force prayers on my children i'd take the
same stance. if any child of mine wanted to
take part i wouldn't dare stop them.that,my
friend, includes islam.i am for freedom of
choice,thats what was violated.
