England in relation to Euro 2008

After watching alot of this tournaments
football its hard to see where england would
come into the equation if they did happen to
qualify..

ok first things first, england had enough
chances to beat so called worse teams to
qualify they failed.
1. because they are not good enough.
2. because they are complacent
3. because they have no drive or passion.

I see the order of teams better than england
this torunament as..
Spain,Germany,Holland,Italy,France,Portugal,R
omania,Russia,Czech rep,Turkey.
england would be at the bottom of the pile of
that top pick.

I think the press and the nation need to get
over themselves , yes we have alot of money
and fat cats in britain and thats all we do
have,. no accheivements lie backing up the
national swuad or future of the squad.

I think England are better than France now.

I'd say they were a bit better than Romania
and the Czech Republic too but yea, Russia
(on last nights form) would probably be too
much for them to handle.

Too many foreigners in the Premiership now.

Makes for a great league (best in the World
to watch I think) but it's a massive handicap
for the national team.

I think our country is one of the worst..
the nation is a nation of people who want to
party and spend their money live for the
weekends rather than their jobs..

this is starting to have a massive reflection
in football more than ever i think, and in a
way I think it effects the national team, as
in metal preperation and focus
things like that have a extremely high effect
on a team performance

I think that in all of these major
tournaments, at international and club level,
luck is crucial. When two evenly matched
teams play it is often the deciding factor.
(If John Terry had not slipped Chelsea may
well have been Euro Champs.)

Confidence is another. A run of good results
breeds confidence in a team and with it comes
fluency of play and the inclination to try
the unexpected which often catches an
opponent off-guard.

Sunova's last point is a good one. The
English mentality sometimes seems to lack the
ruthlessness required to win at the top
level.

We have a decent squad of players but are
not a nation of world-beaters; nor, however,
are any of the other Euro Nations. With
confidence and the right tactics and
determination we could hold our own and with
a share of the vital factor, luck, we could
go far.

I disagree with Chris’s point re “Too many
foreigners in the Premiership now.” Italy,
for example, have had a high proportion of
foreigners for years and generally do well in
tournaments.
