There is no such thing as a 100% friendly
city. There are always morons and there is
always violence. The rest of us must cope and
move on.
As for the site, having high expectations
from chatrooms is a serious error. Like in
person, the virtual world is also filled with
ignorant fools. It can be hard to meet nice
people, particularly when you are new to the
site. Worse still, it is even more difficult
to meet intelligent people. Don't have high
expectations from everyone, because only a
handful of people will have an intelligence
span higher than that of a housefly.
However, at the same time I have met some
lovely people online, particularly on this
very forum. So just keep searching and don't
dwell on bad experience.
Also, bare in mind that users such as Del
were joking and had no intention of causing
offense. Just laugh along and move on to the
next person. |

Well Claudius, you wouldn't get a job with
MORI that's for sure. If your criterion of a
city's populace is limited to a few
characters on a chat-site, then I know the
Chinese very well indeed. You sound like one
of those people who are never happy unless
they see fault in someone or somewhere. Which
city do you believe deserved the accolade of
Capital of Culture?
Cardiff? Newcastle? - Not that I've got
anything against these places. Its just that
people like you who go out of your way to see
the worst in everyone and everything.
I have been out and about in the City Centre
and - you know, actually meet people - see
things instead of making spurious claims from
an armchair. Culture? Beautiful museums,
Galleries, Theatres, Events, Cathederals - in
fact we have more listed buildings anywhere
outside London. The people are as good
(probably better in many cases) than most
other cities. People like you look to the
past with rose tinted glasses, when you
cannot see it is probably YOU who have
changed. So carry on sniping, because as a
minority - we can live with it! |

Well said soc. I think people really need to
grow up and get a life. If thats the
impression u get from chatting to a few
people on chat rooms then you're obviously a
very judgemental and stupid person anyways,
they prob saw all ure big and posh words and
took the [censored] outta you cos you sound
like a miserable old (edited)! If you dont
like the way us young people talk or whatever
then find an old codgers room ya silly fool!
Oh and dont rip liverpool until you actually
get off ya miserable old arse and go n visit
somewhere that is bad! You clearly avn't got
anything else to do with your time other than
slate our city and our people... very
sad!!!!! |

'Stay with Chatterbox'? Is this why you felt
the need to keep coming back? Or is your
capacity for rational debate been challenged
at The Womens Institute? Perhaps with the
demise of your most vaunted alter-ego, Mary
Whitehouse, a more worthy forum, equitable to
your skills as a professional complainant,
might be applicable. The local media is daily
assailed by inveterate depressing sophists
like yourself - but I suppose somebody has to
complain about the litter problem. Keep
posting Jackass, because you are not as
clever as you obviously think you are. |

As wise, responsible adults, I am sure that
all participants slandering one another
understand the futility of this current
so-called discussion.
I'm sure there are better things to do than
bicker, because from what I have seen
arguments on forums are almost neverending,
or only end when moderators take action. |

I've already revised my butt off thanks.
And I will inform you that my memory has
amazed me. I may revise some French soon
though, I have days but I might as well
improve my French-speaking standards. I will
be going to Paris soon after all. |

That must have been lovely Charlie.
Well I would like it to be a romantic
occasion. That's if I had someone to bring
along. I'll just be going to Paris with my
aunt. It should be a brilliant experience,
though I may have to do the talking for her
if at any stage French-speaking is required.
Looking forward to that. Usually she can't
keep her mouth shut. |

Well well! Must have hit a raw nerve there!
Behind all the verbal posturing, do I detect
a note of insecurity? I mean, who are you
trying to impress? Yourself? All that pent
up, spiteful sarcasm masquerading as wit, is
surely a good candidate for psycho-analysis.
Perhaps frequenting these threads more often,
just might be the therapy needed for someone
who obviously needs an outlet. |
