Quantum ESP?

Listen up all U cynical ppl. How's this for
Occams Razor being smugly used to explain 2
traditional paranormal abilities: Tachyons
are theoretical subatomic particles relative
(pardon the pun ) to Einsteins equations,
which always travel faster than light. Now
also according to classic Relativety any FTL
particle Must by Definition also travel
Backwards in time (theoretically creating
potential paradoxes). Conveniently bringing
us to ESP, namely Precognition & Telepathy
(which are respectively mentally viewing a
specific future event, & instant mental
communication via images or sounds). Whilst
society has been aware of these alleged
mental abilities for millenia. However,
nobody has yet devised a logical explanation
until quantum mechanics came & literally
turned classic physics upside down & inside
out in the 1940's!
As there is theoretical & physical evidence
to support existence of tachyons (via
equations & pre-cosmic ray showers) I suggest
that precognition & telepathy are both caused
by the human brain sending & receiving
information signals at FTL speed, but at
different frequencies...I think precog
frequencies are faster & that an ESP
Clairvoyant witnesses a traumatic event in
the future & subconsciously sends the info.
back to themselves in the past (thus creating
De'ja vu...). But simultaneous mental
telepathy happens at slower tachyon
frequencies, & can't therefore travel back in
time being only just above FTL speed. I think
our brains alpha waves & REM dreaming sleep
mysteriously generate these biological
tachyons. So as its simple logic can't be yet
smugly disproved by reactionary science,
whats the considered opinion of beleivers &
sceptics alike in here?

Perhaps because quantum physics &
coincidentally humans are so bloody abstract
they paradoxically defy your pointlessly
rigid empirical scientific testing? (he said
ever so smugly) & btw renowned Physicist
author John Gribbin devised the theory before
I coincidentally came up with mine. Why do
ppl on here always condemn an interesting
theory they simply weren't creative enough to
think up themselves, one wonders?

I'm sure John Gribbin would condescend to
disagree with U there! Its also very typical
that any "unproven new theory" that doesn't
fit into the current rigid paradigm is
condemned by reactionary science until its
conclusively proven by "hard scientific
evidence". Scientists are only human & are as
subjective as us "ignorant" laymen concerning
anything upsetting their dogmatic scientific
Status Quo, & your subconscious emotional
reaction has rather conveniently proved my
point... QED I think

Sounds like you urgently want this theory to
be validated - but pesky science thwarts it,
and always needs something as trivial as
proof. I don't dismiss the theory, however
empirical proofs are THE only criterion for
acceptance. So unless a scientifically
provable experiment is not forthcoming - it
remains an hypotheses.

You so called "scientists" can be as dense as
neutron stars when it suits your purposes. I
was just Trying to say that all scientific
paradigms are designed to be broken &
recycled by new discoveries/theories
gradually creating new paradigms. Btw, have
you also considered the glaring fact that
tachyons are only fleetingly glimpsed by our
currently primitive radar technology to
easily detect? There's an interesting analogy
here with black holes & gravity waves, which
were also once smugly "condemned" by science
but which are now conclusively proven by
current astronomical technology. Perhaps it
will also take some radical form of far
future quantum wave detector to likewise
prove ESP tachyon waves? However, until then
the theory defiantly fits all the anecdotal
evidence supporting ESP...

Agreed! But it still remains in the realm of
THEORETICAL physics until proven otherwise. I
mean, we didn't create nuclear reactors etc.
until after long trial and error with
empirical results we could PROVE to take
place. I await your empirical PROOFS of ESP
with relish - good luck!

I'm empirically "detecting" a lot of
subjective heated emotion behind your
"objective" scientific facades. Have I
absently touched a raw nerve?

Blithe - I think Oona is correct, you do
appear to be a 'wishful thinker' - in fact I
wish ESP actually worked - but there is a big
difference between a proposition and a
provable fact - even Stephen Hawking would go
along with that methinks. Surely out of all
the experiments carried out on ESP at least
ONE could be presented as 'proof'?

I smugly recall science ridiculed Einstein, &
later he called Heisenberg & his quantum
physicist cronies (God does not play dice
vith ze universe!) "wishful thinkers" too!.
Until Relativety & later Quantum Physics
shattered & reinvented the previous concrete
paradigms...Maybe some currently obscure
research scientist will shatter this
geriatric paradigm by conclusively proving
both Tachyons & human ESP ability (which is
by definition quantum in nature...) by
December, 2012...Maybe thats what the Mayan
prophecies really mean?

Blithe - you are debating with the benefit of
hindsight and theoretical propositions -
unfortunately science cannot progress on
theory alone - if it did, it would be no more
valid than religion ie.unprovable.

In fact, why don't you join an ESP group in
your area - then get back to us with your
results?

I thought all scientific evidence was based
on initial "theory" which was then
empirically proven by repeated experiments
under similiar conditions? Which is why all
the social sciences (being based on
stubbornly random human evidence) have so
little credibility with all their scientific
peers?

Valid point there Socrates. But sadly most
"ESP" research groups are sceptically biased
against compelling ESP evidence...The oldest
(& most famous example)is perhaps the Society
for Psychical Research (SPR) which has become
so corrupted by internal bickering &
intrigue, its just a pale shadow of its
former nobly "objective" self...

The way I see it is; you have a theory you
are convinced is true - you do not need any
scientific equipment to enhance the theory,
only 'scientific' conditions - this should be
easy enough to prove or disprove.

From you're defensive answer Onna, I'm
compelled to assume you're studying one of
the Social Sciences then? Frankly, I don't
think psychology will be fully reconciled
with biology & chemistry. I agree with your
tacit suggestion about chemical reactions in
the brain vaguely crossing respective
disciplines, but feel psychology has yet to
be proven empirically to gain acknowlegement
by its peers...But we're wondering off the
initial debating point of Quantum ESP here...
Unless Parapsychology can make a valid
scientificcontribution?

Regarding your last intriguing suggestion
Socrates. Scientists have already discovered
many quantum subatomic particles at the CERN
atom smasher at Geneva. So maybe if some
enterprising scientist actually invents some
form of tachyon detector, then we could all
have some valid empirical evidence of ESP...?
