some essential information what I've found:

Location: 39.70 N, 44.28 E
Elevation: 16,940 feet, 5,165 m

The extinct volcano, Agri Dagi (Mount Ararat)
at 5,165 metres is the highest peak in
Turkey. It is the final cone in the chain of
volcanoes which march across the bare
savannah of the central Anatolian plain. The
southern route spreads the climb over three
days up and one day down, using two campsites
at 3,200m and 4,200 metres, and mules to
carry supplies to the first camp. It starts
from Elikoyu, an abandoned village in the
foothills and sticks to a ridge for much of
the way, thus avoiding the Ulker glacier
which careers down the face into deep and
jumbled gorges below. The path, though rocky,
is clearly marked. Above 5000m are permanent
ice fields, so crampons, ice axes and ropes
are required.

It is a requirement by Turkish Minister of
Tourism to have an official permission in
order to trek Mt.Ararat.

This trip is graded "Difficulty IIII" - This
is where it gets serious. At this level we
recommend previous experience of the activity
involved, as conditions will be tough. You
need complete confidence in your physical
condition and your ability to participate in
the activity, perhaps for long periods of
time, over consecutive days or under
difficult circumstances. Trips may experience
high altitude, extremes of temperature,
remoteness, long days or difficult terrain.
Tough trips represent the ideal grade for
those experienced in adventure travel who
want to push themselves out of their everyday
comfort zone.

One of the answers I received:

Thank you for your e-mail. You can see our
7-day or 8-day program dates of
2008 in my WP "allaboutturkey"

The cost of the 7-day expedition in August is
Euro 570 per person in double
room + 25 per person service fee = 595 euro
per person. If you're traveling
alone thus you'll stay in Single room, then
there will be a single suplement
charge which is +115 euros per person/room.
These are the rates for group
tours, not on private basis.

Domestic flights: We can get your domestic
flight tickets here. The cost of
one person for Istanbul/Van + Van/Istanbul is
200 euros (100 euros per
person one way). After you finalize your
international flights, please
inform us your times so if you'll need any
overnight in Istanbul & transfers
we can arrange it as well (at extra cost of
course). If you are coming to
Turkey with Turkish Airlines, you can get the
Istanbul/Van/Istanbul route in
the same ticket so it will cost you less.

Permissions: We send you a form and require
some information regarding your
nationality and passport, where you live etc.
You'll fill it in and fax it
to us. Note that it's very important to tell
us from which Turkish Embassy
or consulate (city & country) you'll take
these permits, because we send
them to the embassy you tell us in that form.
For example, if you live in
Hungary than you have to choose the Turkish
Embassy in Budapest so when we
get the permits we'll ship them there.
Unfortunately once you tell us the
location of the embassy/consulate, you can't
change it later on (please
calculate that the permits will be ready in
2-3 months).. I hope this is
clear.

Payment: On your confirmation of the tour, we
require a 25% deposit by bank
wire to our bank in Istanbul. The remainder
has to be paid in cash on your
arrival at Van directly to the mountain
guide. No credit cards or travelers
cheques, sorry. If we can't get your climb
permit (which is unlikely, but
you never know), we'll return the deposit to
you.

Cancellation policy: Once we get your permit
and ship it to the Turkish
Embassy or Consulate in the country you've
chosen, in case you change your
mind or for whatever reason you decide to
cancel your reservation, there is
a full penalty of the deposit so we don't
return your payment back.

And an another one:

Your can find the detailed tour programmes on
my WP: mtararattour. The price of the 4-day
climb is 360 EUR + 50 USD per
person, and the price of the 5-day tour is
420 EUR + 50 USD. The time
(tour between 10-17 Aug) is available.

To climb Mt Ararat, you will need a climbing
permit. The above prices
include the permit fee (50 USD payable to the
Turkish Moutaineering
Federation). The application process lasts
about 2 months - so to be on
the safe side, please send me the data on
your passport's photo page as soon
as possible.

Please, don't hesitate to write if you have
further questions regarding
the climb or local information necessary to
organise your holiday.

To book our tour, the only payment you would
have to transfer in advance
is the 50 USD permit fee. The rest of the
payment is due when you arrive
at Dogubeyazit.
