Hello everybody.
Just to let you all know I'm off on
deployment next week so I'll be away for
about 6-8 months. It's been great being back
home in Derby again but it was short lived.
Thankyou to all who welcomed me back on my
last thread. It was nice to see the old faces
again and see some new ones. I head off to
HMNB Portsmouth where I'm based on 30th April
and we head off for our deployment on May
4th. I'll be taking my laptop with me this
time so, at some point, I'll be putting a 7
day personal diary on here about what I'm
getting up to on my deployment. My little
brothers insist I do it so look out for that.
I'll try and keep in touch as much as I can.
Been a pleasure chatting to you all.

Hey danny. I'm gonna miss you too matey.
Don't worry I promise I'll keep in touch. As
regards to the diary thing I won't be even
thinking of starting it till we reach the
Falklands bro. And don't forget it takes just
over 16 days to get there so it'll be after
21st May.
And another thing mate. It's not just the
Falklands, we're on deployment to the British
Forces South Atlantic Islands which I told
you about not so long ago. They mainly
consist of the Falklands, South
Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
Remember? Yes Danny the Falklands war has
been long over, but since then the Royal Navy
has always maintained a presence there. |

Danny, the "patrol task thingy ma bob" that
your refering to is the South Atlantic patrol
task. Yeah we will be visiting some british
dependancies in western africa and the gulf
of Guinea on the way but it won't be anything
major. Just to provide a military presence
and relieve some of the british forces that
are there. Hopefully we'll get a run ashore
whilst we're there and I can do a bit of
exploring. We'll also be paying a very brief
visit to Gibraltar on the way too where the
royal fleet auxiliary vessel will be joining
us. Are you still unsure about joining the
royal fleet auxiliary Danny? You seemed
really up to it a few months ago. |
