some of you have had a virus infecting your M
S N..
you've probably clicked to receive a file
from a known contact only to later find that
they didn't send it...
it would have looked something like this...
"heres a pic of me on the beach
pic 032.zip"
to deactivate this do EXACTLY the following,
dont do anything else unless you know what
you're doing...
click start, then run..
type "msconfig" then click "ok"..
a window opens... "system configuration
utility"... click the start up tab and search
for entries called any of the following..
im-names
cute.pif
PIC1234(1)(1)(1)(1)(1)(1).exe
choke.exe
W32.Aplore@mm
hotkeysvc.exe
msgspread
if so take the tick out of the box...
open "my documents" then my received files,
if there is anything you didn't download
there is the root of your problem..
press ctrl-alt and delete, then click the
processes tab, you'll see a long list of
stuff running on your pc, look for any of
those listed above, if they're there
highlight them and click "end process" (if
you end a important process by mistake your
pc will restart)..
i'll be back tomorrow with how to kill it
once i've figured out how to kill
completely..
i haven't actually got it, so i'm working
blind, if you have tell me what you see to
give me a clue...
and if anyone sends you anything on m s n
check with them that they have actually sent
it to you before opening or downloading
anything...
but in my case its like trying to teach me
about nuclear fission. im a div
that dams keep sending me them pix of u on
the beach den, but i was too embarassed to
open em so it was a stroke of luck that
my embarassment has kept a virus at bay
