Hello all of you!
Some of you know me, some of you don't. That
aside I have to apologise as I've been away
from this site for a long while now. Reason
being, as some of you may know, I'm now a
warfare officer in the Royal Navy. For the
past few months I've been on deployment in
the Pacific. I'm now back home, safe and
sound, so I'd like to know how you're all
getting on. I must say, I've dropped by in
the Derby room a couple of times and it
certainly isn't how I remember it. It's alot
less busy now and there's alot of people I
don't know. So there you go..I'm back! At
least for a few weeks before I set off again
anyway. Those of you who don't know me,
please introduce yourself so I can look out
for you next time I'm in the Derby room. As I
said I don't recognise alot of you now. Thank

Happy to do that for you danny, me lil bro!
For 7 to 8 months I'll be on deployment in
the british forces south atlantic islands
which mainly consist of the falklands, south
georgia and the south sandwich islands. These
are UK overseas territories and, as such,
rely on the UK for guarantee of their
security. The royal navy maintains a presence
in the area with a frigate or destroyer in
the south atlantic and a patrol ship
permanently close to the islands. We'll be
doing whats known as the south atlantic
patrol task, which provides a british
presence in the south atlantic and west
africa and is comprised of single warship
accompanied by an RFA (Royal Fleet Auxiliary)
vessel. The patrol is tasked with maintaining
the sovereignty of the falkland islands and
south georgia, and supporting the british
forces in the south atlantic.

Danny ya muppet! The royal fleet auxiliary is
the part of the navy you were thinking of
getting into. DUH! LOL. Just to remind you
bro: The primary role of the RFA is to supply
the royal navy at sea, things such as food,
fuel, ammunition and spares it needs in order
to maintain operations away from its home
ports. I even took you round an RFA vessel
when you visited me at portsmouth donut brain
 RFA Mounts Bay I think it was. |
