Call me old fashioned (ok stretching it a bit
since this chat thing aint exactly entrenched
in tradition) but from my time in here I have
taken it as read that if you see someone join
a room you say hi. If you don't it means one
of 3 things-1-you didn't notice, 2-you
noticed and you're making a point of not
saying hi, or 3-you're new and don't know
whether to say hi or not. Oh yeh-4-you're too
lazy to be polite but chip in a while later
when you find there's enough of an audience
to warrent your presence. Hands up all those
who know their etiquette. |

I say hi, but its the rest of it i stuggle
with....it goes so fast sometimes...and feel
like i'm butting in to conversations. I'm
just not used to it all really. I do try
however. |

See I was always told, saying hello to every
Tom Dick and Harry that walks in, is a sign
of desperation, for having no friends online
(Not that Online friends are worth having)
and also tend to be the most boring of people
as after saying hello and chatting to so many
people, they tend to forget who you are.
Now, I'm not bothered either way, But i will
be honest and say, these are usually the
people I tend not to say Hello too, I once
heard someone call them the Hello
Prostitutes. But it's all a matter of Each To
Their Own, I say. |

Hello to you all.
I have no friends, so I guess that makes me a
"Hello prostitute"!
Now, Charlie - if I say hello to you can I
have a banana or is that deemed as
soliciting?
Seriously though, I do tend to say "hello" an
awful lot and through this I have made
friends on the forums. People have been very
kind and welcomed me to the threads as a
result.
I do miss some thread postings sadly, but
this is never intentional and merely due to
the speed of the thread postings on here and
as and when I come online.
As for the chatrooms, when I visit, again I
am guilty of saying "hello" to those that
join the room - I find it gets people talking
somewhat.
Just my thoughts on the matter. I see it as
being polite and welcoming.
