Riding in the winter

New biker chic here... I looked out the
window this morning and the cars have frost
on them, but does that mean the roads are
slippy? On the day of my test the cars where
covered in frost yet the roads seemed ok, Is
there a definate way to tell how much grip
there is?

Ah, I was asking that same question a month
or so ago.

No way of knowing for sure.

If there's ice/frost anywhere I don't think
it's worth the risk.

Unless you find the idea of spending Crimbo
in A&E appealing.

I had a few heart stopping moments in
Novemmber (most on roundabouts) so come early
December I'd had enough.

Take care if you do decide to use the
bike.

Riding a bike in Winter - or Spring -is a bad
idea, it's cold or cold and wet or cold and
windy or cold and wet and windy; riding in
Summer is a bad idea too, it's far too hot,
which leaves you with Autumn; 3 months of the
year when the weather is tolerable.
Have you ever thought of switching to
something with more wheels?

I don't mind any weather so what if it's cold
and frosty you pay for insurance which covers
accidents. There was white frost glistening on
the road when i went to work on my bike the
other day and then it snowed when i was half
way to work and did so for the rest of the
commute. You don't have to worry about hitting
a car at 6.30 in the morning here most people
don't go to work until about 8 or 9 o clock.

well a bit of time has gone on, have managed
to get out on the bike a bit, its been a bit
chilly at times but worth it.
Have found my favorite road... it was either
built by a drunk roman or by a biker...its
the A51 from tamworth to kingsbury, then take
the road to coventy via fillongly..on the
B4098..its 20 miles of nice corners..anyone
else know it??
