Hi,
My grandad Hamish Howitt owner of the happy
scots in blackpool is going against the
smoking ban, Yes bet u have heard, But i
wanna no what u all think because i dont no
if its good or bad i have good and bad points
about it ... |

I'm not sure what to think of it. I think
the ban is a good idea because it isn't
really fair that non-smokers should inhale
our smoke but at the same time when they are
going into a bar or club then they know what
they are getting when they get there. So
really its a non-smokers choice. |

Yer true i think my grandad is doing a good
by sticking up for what he thinks is right,
my veiew is people smoke more wen there
having a drink so because of the ban more
people will start buying dirty drinks and
drinking at home and for some people isnt the
best thing because they can drink them selfs
silly and end up ill or more.. in a pub if u
have had too much to drink they show you the
way out and will not give u anymore to drink. |

I dunno, I think he's brave doing it because
the courts could easily make an example of
him because he has set out to do it

Sorry, but I think you're grandad's a bit of
an idiot. It's one thing flouting the law,
but going on tv and doing it? Is he mad? I
liked it how when the politics show
interviewed him, he kept saying the same
thing, lol.
Going against a new law isn't the way to
reverse it, you must legally protest against
it, and write to MPs, as the law allows to
you. Saying why you are going against a law
over and over again, and flouting that law,
on tv, gets you nowhere. |

I'm glad the smoking ban in enclosed public
places exists but if you're grandad disagrees
with it then good on him for taking a stand.
If more folk stood up for what they believed
in the UK might not be the sewer that it is
today. |

Good for your grandad, I own a small guest
house in Blackpool, and believe I and people
in my position should have been given the
option of running either a smoking or non
smoking establishment, therefore giving
people the choice of whether to stay here or
not, instead of this blanket ban,....THIS
COUNTRY WAS A DEMOCRACY, IT IS NOW BECOMING A
DICTATORSHIP. |

I agree with Tom, i dont know many people
that smoke, so i suppose i may just be being
biast...
But i think that the smoking law is
brilliant, when you go to the pub now you
dont have to wash the smell of smoke out of
your hair for 3 days. |

Bein from Blackpool myself & a smoker i
totally support your grandad and hope he
keeps his protest up i think smoking bans
should have a place like in restaurants shops
shopping centres but think places like pubs &
clubs where there is a long standing
tradition of people being able to escape and
relax with a pint and a cig should couninur
Up the revolution & support Hamish !!! |
