Bare knuckle boxing

Hi people. I'm doing some research into
bare-knuckle/ unlicensed boxing and wondered
if there were any people that could shed some
light on it for me? Have you been to a fight,
boxed in one (if so how was it, how and why
did you do it), where was it held (field,
barn, house etc), is it only Romani (gypsies)
that take part. If you know anything then
please express it and we can all debate or
talk about it. Cheers. Scott

Thanks everyone for the replys! No i'm not
police and am conducting research for the
University of London. Am hoping to go to a
match in a couple of weeks, going to be
amazing.

I know someone that boxes in them- hard as
nails, and got mental health problems (what a
combination)- the ring was surrounded by barb
wire and the match was kicking only. His
opponent was 6"8 and tried to kick him and
missed, in responce he instinctively threw a
punch and knocked him out cold! Oh yes and
women aren't aloud to the matches- do women
feel left out, would they go in disguise-
lol. Scott

i did box but cant fight because i work, so
im training to box unlicensed, its the same
as amateur boxing only you usualy fight
people who are a bit screwed in the head and
dont wear head gear!

also you get money for winning money for
losing. at least £300 - £1000 a fight

Only bare knuckle fighting i have ever known
was at the local fairs in the midlands and
north about 30 years ago . A lot of coal
miners used to participate, i think it was
just a way of moving your way up the social
pecking order. The prize money was meagre but
winning a fight would ensure you didn't buy a
drink for 6 months!
I imagine nowdays that it is the thought of a
quick buck and a blood lust. Along the line
we have picked up a lot of warrior race genes
and maybe bare knuckle fighting sates this
base instinct!
(advice- do not have a go - your mother will
have waited excitedly for your teeth to cut
through ...... you have no right to go n get
them all knocked out!)
