I am an A-level student currently conducting
research into soap opera's and how their
importance to the TV schedule has changed
over the last 10 years. Do you feel soaps
storyline's are more/less realistic than 10
years ago? I'm also interested to know
whether you prefer to watch soaps at their
usual slots, on bcc 3/ itv 2 later the same
day or rather wait until the omnibus on the
weekend?. As a viewer do you know the reasons
why you watch soap operas? And finally do you
feel soaps are used as a way to hold up more
unpopular programmes?

hey ezzy. i think in some ways they are more
realistic. they cover alot of different
problems and storys. i think they cover
storys that maybe arent always very usual or
arent visable to everyday life. if that makes
sense. i like watching them at their normal
times on tv. i watch them cause im bored and
then i end up getting caught up in the story

Soaps are definately less realistic than they
were 10 yrs ago and they're on too many times
a week now and that spoils the actual quality
of the show! |

yes there realistic....
my next door neighbour... has 8 failed
marriages , been shot 4 times, is really a
south london gangster
has been reunited with 24 children that he
didn't know he had....
is a crack dealer...
takes in wastes and strays...
had 37 affairs with local women...
everytime he enters the local pub he has a
fight.....
he was convicted of bank robbery ( 6 episode
special )
someitmes i just think soaps are based on him
and his exploits...
and yes... he has had 14 incurable diseases
but got better
also was gay last year for about a year, then
got better....
and finally has killed 8 people
