I have had a problem for a very long time and
i think that i hve finally found the
solution. If i drink tesco diet Kick whenever
I am hungry it takes away the pain and gives
me the caffeine as a motivator and energy
source. I dont know why it has taken me so
long to find it. it has been nearly three
weeks since I have eaten anything solid well
kept it down and the sense of achievement is
amazing. I gave in yesterday and ate some
tomato soup and chocolate later but didnt
keep that for very long. anyone else have any
good ideas?

I've been bulimic since I was 16 now I'm 26
and it still controls my life. I cant even
remember how I got to this point. Its the
biggest secret of my life. Everyone around me
thinks that I'm better and that my ED is in
the past. I wish they knew and understood how
I struggle and fight everyday with myself to
avoid the toilet.Having an ED is not cute, it
only makes u skinny for a little while. I'm
so ashamed of what I do, I wish I could talk
to someone, that understands. I need help, no
doctors, no therapist I'm tired of them. I
want to get better but I just don't know
how...

did anorexia,bullimia,and other eating
dissorders exist say 30 years ago ? i suppose
not ? and if it did bet there were only one
or two cases...wtf as happened ? is life so
stressful and pressure is put on people by
the media, peer pressure etc that people have
to starve themselves...guess life today is
just far more stressful than 30 odd years or
so back,even though materialistically people
seem to have a lot, spiritually most have
nothing in the bank as it were

The term anorexia nervosa was actually coined
in 1870s.

A lot of problems facing society are thought
to be fairly "new." They aren't. It was just
better covered in the past - maybe less
common too - and not to mention everyone
seems to use the term "the good ol' days"
which implies that everything was alright
compared to how it is now. Apparently, this
illness is actually hereditary to some
extent. Of course, I feel it has worsened
over the years. It's probably at its climax
now.

For those who feel this is all talk with
source, you're welcome to look it up for
yourself. Look up the history of anorexia
nervosa.

Of course, gender, society, ethnicity,
culture etc. all contribute largely to the
development of eating disorders.

But I'm ashamed to say that many parts of the
world have become Barbie Doll
[censored]holes.

I wonder if anyone watched Supernanny on
Channel 4 recently or earlier tonight. SIX
YEAR OLD girls - already very skinny - want
to be even skinnier. Stick insects, even.

What does that tell you about the message
being sent out to people from an early age?

On another note, I think I remember
responding to this thread some time ago,
expressing disgust at those who encourage
eating disorders.

it's like when i was in junior school lil
miss....i know of at least two kids who
certainly had a form of autism, now at the
time they were just left alone to fend for
themselves,they were just a bit slow,when i
think back it was so obvious what the problem
was...

i think today it's much different,i believe
teachers do training courses to spot such
things as autism ?

anyway a nice bacon butty with hp sago never
did anyone any harm

hello btw lil miss, nice to see yer

Exactly, it wasn't recognised back then,
picked out or discussed properly, so these
problems got swept aside. Today it's much
different, in that sense.

I'm not sure what teachers are trained to
recognise, in all honesty. Even if they are
trained to recognise autism, there's plenty
of other problems I can think of they ought
to learn about too.

And nice seeing you too Charlie, how have you
been?

I kinda agree with you both ^

They didn't isolate kids who were dyslexic at
my school . They called them stupid .
Thats a fact .
Skinny kids didn't do sports
Fat kids didn't do drama .

Thats how it was
We didn't have an analyst . Our parents
wouldn't even listen .

That's true Mikk, there are parents with
unrealistic expectations.

Then again, I'm willing to bet those
expectations were once again the same in the
past. You had kids being whipped/beaten/caned
for the simplest of mistakes. Didn't do your
homework? Get whacked with the ruler 50
times, or something along those lines.
Parents are pretty lenient compared to the
past. It's illegal to get beaten now.

It's reached a stage, however, where
materialistically we have everything, so we
just keep wanting more. We keep expecting
more from products, more from society, maybe
more from one another. There's always that
vibe of pressure.

But then, you also get parents who don't
actually care about their kids, which is an
even bigger problem. When kids have no
figures in their lives at home, they will
probably turn to peers. If they mix in the
wrong people, there's trouble.

having problems at school, and it was true in
the past things just got swept under the
