how can the Qur'an be all sufficient in our
worship of Allah, if it does not even mention
something as important as praying five times
a day and does this not prove that the Koran
without the Hadith is like a car without an
engine?

sparkle I think that whilst it mentions
praying , no rules are laid down.In the
tradition of Mohammed's vist to heaven
Mohammed parleyed with Allah with the
suggestion of Abraham to reduce the rate from
about 50 to 5 .
Beats me where they got the informtion from

plenty of verses saying to follow the example
of the prophet.
isn't a bit lazy to reject something you
don't know much about? |

culture rather than religion... |

If you are a believer the very best belief is
one that concentrates on God and your
relation with Him ( I use the word Him as It
sounds rude and She sounds radical)
a simple faith,
not heaps of inflicted rules
love God and your fellow man..

if you really don't believe in god then why
do you lead your life according to man-made
rules and laws?
if there's no punishment or reward when you
die, why not do what the hell you like rather
than complaining about things which you don't
believe in?
if you really think it through, morality has
no meaning if you believe this life is the
sum of your existence.

Trouble is, religion has a disposition of
moral absolutes, when much of our 'morality'
is historically and socially defined. When
MEN formulated these absolutes, many of these
edicts may have been applicable at the time.
We used to think it was 'moral' to burn
witches (a religious edict) or hang people
for stealing. But the difference between
'right' or 'wrong' isn't simply black or
white. |

if you believe death is the end of your
existence then it makes no sense to follow
rules.
the fact that millions of atheist/agnostic
follow society's rules is more about being
easily lead members of a herd then any
artificial idea of 'enlightenment'.
clearly, there are more and more members of
british society who are unaffected by the
legacy of a christian britain and their
morality is based on the rules of animal
survival rather than anything else.
and it's only fitting that they behave like
animals in the absence of belief - some carry
on like unthinking herd creatures obeying the
rules out of habit... whilst some come to
realisation that i mentioned before, and
become predatory creatures who are only too
happy to reap the rewards of breaking
man-made laws.
lol, that's you that is. |

"If you believe death is the end...it makes
no sense.."
Really? Does not trying to secure a better
world for future generations constitute a
'worthy/moral' cause?
Was not the creation of the Welfare State not
born out of MANS desire to eradicate
inequality and poverty not a noble
undertaking? By personifying 'Christian
Britain' and alluding to the 'herd' - well I
would not dignify that remark with an answer
- suffice to ask, where in the Islamic world
are your Utopian ideals implemented? Where in
your your Utopia has criminality been
eradicated?
As a great man once said : "Democracy is the
worst system, besides all the others we have
tried" |

Newcastle - this was a civilised debate until
someone decided to drag it down, using words
like 'animals' or 'the herd'.
Secondly, I suspect we have a former muslim
in disguise here - I won't say who.
Thirdly - use your spell checker - I mean one
or two mistakes... |

Haven't you noticed Jolly - this thread is
taking a familiar course? Starts off like a
debate - Islam is questioned - then a 'rant'
against Western values...reminds me of
someone not long metaphorically
deceased...Keepopenminded? or even a
Boredluton? |

(waits for Newc. to step off the 'soapbox')
If you had been taking any notice, this
thread descended from a good debate, into
denegrating British people and values
(again). I suggest you re-read, then defer
your platitudes to the one above who dragged
it down.(Keepopenminded)
(steps down off me soapbox)
PS. Notice your spelling improved |

And by the way Newky - the burden of 'proof'
lies with those who posit a theological
hypothesis (God/Allah)- not the other way
around. |

i wasn't trying to insult you, there are
herds of religious and non-religious kinds -
both are equally blind.
to become indignant just because i pointed
out the obvious facts about people who are
possibly of your persuasion is hypocritical
isn't? especially in your case?
also, the only person trying to turn this
into a mind numbing battle of ego's and
religious hatred is you - i'm happy to try to
discuss things with you even if you make it
'challenging' with your islamaphobic
tendencies.
by the way, i'm not this keepo person and i'm
neither some crazy evangelist trying to
convert you. it doesn't help to have so many
negative preconceived ideas about people -
you should try to break that habit before it
sticks.

Where did you get the idea I was
'Islamaphobic'? Paranoia perhaps? I treat all
those with 'mission' tendencies with equal
disdain. Your method of promoting Islam is
very familiar though. |

religion is the root of all evils? even
amongst non-believers? lol
by the way, i'm not promoting islam - just
balancing out the overwhelmingly
negative/uninformed comments on here. |

i see.
do you think you can find a useful outlet for
your frustrations?
endlessly attacking muslims/islam suggests a
deeper malaise than just being an obsessive
bigot.

feel better now? ok good, now try not to
dwell on negative feelings.
i recommend focusing on the positives from
your own way of life and you'll be less
likely to develop cancer from all that hate
you're carrying around at the moment. |
