Im not knocking the sport I do watch it just
sometimes but when ever I hear 'Barmy Army'
it makes me giggle Whats that all about ??
where did it come from?

I don’t want to knock Cricket I think I would
take more interest in it if I knew anything
of the scouring I’m lost with it I have
noticed its still a gentleman’s game no
swearing and no violence, its just when they
chant Barmy Army didn’t know where it came
from even writing Barmy Army make me smile
its good and hope they do all right

Thought id help out on the origins of the
english supporters being called "the barmy
army" seems to have started in the mid 90s
when supporters were seen to be supporting a
team that was unlikely yo win and also
standing in the hot mid day sun drinking
lager!!
The song is a football chant from Sheffield
Wednesday i think, but was transferred when
the references atarted being made.
Our beloved Barmy Army have a great
reputation internationally as they are quite
organised and show a degree of respect.
Hope that sheds some light?
Also dont know how big a fans you guys are
but i was looking at cricinfo today and have
you guys seen that cricshop[censored] has
been re launched looking really smart now!! |
